The Competitive Intelligence Research Manager will provide advanced competitive intelligence research and analysis service for research requests emanating from various practice and strategy areas throughout the firm.  This role will be expected to have in-depth knowledge in research methodologies and have the ability to stay abreast of legal, geopolitical and industry trends, monitor financial and economic data, and identify potential opportunities for the firm. This role will be critical in helping Baker Tilly thrive in our ability to serve our clients as valued business advisors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and conduct competitive intelligence research to identify opportunities to elevate Baker Tilly services, such as strategy, people, processes, mergers and acquisitions, specific industries and economic activity.
  • Assist key stakeholders in synthesizing research findings in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives; ensure information is packaged in crisp, clear and compelling deliverables.
  • Develop repeatable, scalable and sustainable processes to maintain research.
  • Stay abreast and current in the use of the most relevant and appropriate research methods, including proprietary and public databases that directly relate to targeted research initiatives.
  • Seek economies of scale in selecting and using preferred research tools; work in conjunction with Marketing and specialized practices to leverage research resources.
  • Provide regular status reports to key stakeholders on competitive intelligence and research activities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders.
  • Set clear expectations for key stakeholders on the use and value of competitive intelligence.
  • Be knowledgeable of the ethics, collection and use of primary source information.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA desired.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of substantive research experience focusing on competitive intelligence and analysis and distributing content to key stakeholders.
  • Experience with leading early-stage merger and acquisition strategy assessment and target identification.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple deadlines and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Advanced online research skills and knowledge of electronic and print business resources.
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to analyze and present complex information.
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally and educationally diverse, matrix environment.
